Battery Recycling:
FREE
The CSU offers battery
recycling; simply drop of your batteries in MA 116. Recycling batteries
keeps them out of landfills and prevents the leaching of toxic
materials into the ground and ground water supplies. The following
batteries are accepted for recycling at the CSU: Alkaline AAAA to D,
Lithium, Mercury Oxide Sealed Cells, Nickel Cadmium and Nickel Metal
Hydride Sealed Cell Rechargeable, Zinc Chloride, Zinc Carbon. Sorry, no
car batteries!
Binding Services:
25 pages or more: $2.00
24 pages or less: $1.00
The
CSU will cerlox bind your reports and term projects. We have a variety
of coloured covers to choose from (including transparent) and can
accommodate reports up to one inch in thickness.
Bike First Aid:
This kit contains has a set of bike
tools to loan out for on the spot repairs. We also sell bike supplies such as inner tubes to fix those pesky flats.
Cell Phone Recycling:

The Capilano Students'
Union is a depot for the Phones for Food Program. All proceeds from the
program go to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Turn your old unwanted
cell phone into food for our community's most vulnerable by dropping it
in the box located in our front office -MA116. Recycling your cell
phone is also good for the environment. Cell phones contain toxic
elements like arsenic, beryllium, cadmium, antimony, lead and mercury.
These toxins leak into the ground water and infect everything from
wildlife to drinking water.

The CSU offers an affordable and convenient colour/black
& white copying and printing service.

is responsible for the cost of ALL pages printed - the CSU is not
responsible for missing fonts, file incompatibility or formatting
changes from cross-platform changes, or colour variations from screen
appearance; Files must be in an approved format: .doc (Word) .xls

.ppt (Powerpoint), .pdf (Acrobat), .psd (Photoshop), .eps (Postscript)
.ai (Illustrator);and, files must be delivered on CD, or other
removable media, or via e-mail to printshop@csu.bc.ca. Our staff will
not download files from web sites or members' e-mail programs. Volume
limit: Maximum 100 copies per person per day to accommodate our
available paper supply. We do not offer a price break for higher
volumes.

You
may send and receive faxes at the Capilano Students' Union for a very
reasonable rate. Enquire at the front desk in the Maple building for
the cost of local, long distance, and international faxing. If you need
to receive a fax, you're welcome to use the Students' Union fax
machine. Please make certain your name appears clearly on the first
page of the fax. The CSU fax number is (604) 984-4995.
Free Online Tax Filing:
This service provide through the CFS can be accessed through their
website during tax season (Feb-Apr). Please go to the link below for

Housing Registry:

The Capilano Students' Union maintains a registry of available housing
in the Lower Mainland (primarily North, West and East Vancouver). This
list is available HERE, as well as two bulletin boards on campus, one
located outside Maple 116 and the other opposite LB 131.

International Student Identity Card (ISIC):
FREE
The
ISIC is the only internationally recognized proof of full-time student
status. As well, it acts as a student discount card in 70 countries,
including Canada. Through its affiliation with the International
Student Travel Confederation, the Canadian Federation of Students is
the sole issuing authority of the ISIC in Canada. For members of the
CSU, the cost of the card is included in your Federation membership
fees. ISICs are available at the Capilano Students' Union in Maple 116
as well as all Travel CUTS offices. The card provides students with
discounts on domestic air travel and a 40% discount on VIA Rail travel.
As well, reduced rates can be obtained for accommodation, and admission
to some of the world's renowned museums, historical sites and
entertainment attractions. To obtain a card at the Capilano Students'
Union office, bring in your valid Capilano University student card and
a passport-sized photograph of yourself. There may be up to a one-day
turn around on ISIC card applications.
Laminating:
Per lamination: $0.50
The Capilano Students' Union will laminate for extremely low costs! Business cards and letter size pages.
Lockers:
One Semester: $10.00
Two Semesters: $15.00 (only offered in the Fall & Spring term)
The
Capilano Students' Union rents lockers to students. Lockers are
assigned every September, January and May on a first-come,
first-assigned basis. Rental lockers are located on the first and third
floors of Fir building, and the first floor of the Library building. In
conjunction with the counseling department, reserved lockers are
available to students with disabilities.

The CSU carries several major brands of phone cards for all countries.
Lounge:

The lounge is open to all
students, and is located in the Maple building, adjacent to the CSU
offices. Throughout the year, there are regular events staged in the
lounge including music events, speakers, and films during all parts of
the day. Watch for posters advertising times and dates of specific
events. If you would like to book the lounge for an event of your own,
please contact the Capilano Students' Union main office in Maple 116.
Mt Seymour Lift Ticket Vouchers:
Full Day Ticket Vouchers: $27.00
Lift
Ticket Vouchers are available from November - April. Get
huge discounts at the CSU over window ticket prices at Mt Seymour! Full
day and night ticket vouchers are available for discount prices up to
$10 off the regular student price at Mt Seymour. Tickets are available to
anyone with valid student ID – STUDENT ID REQUIRED.

There
are two digital copy machines provided by the Capilano Students' Union
for student use. They are located in the CSU Front Office – MA 116. CSU
copy cards may be purchased in the Capilano Students' Union. Currently,
our copiers allow for single-sided and double-sided copying.

The Capilano Students' Union
produces a handbook every year for all students at Capilano University.
These handbooks are $1.00
and can be picked up (while supplies last) at the Students' Union
office in Maple 116 and CSU information tables in September. If you
have any ideas for next year's handbook, contact the Capilano Students'
Union office in Maple 116. Come sit on the Handbook Committee!
Student Saver Card:

The Student Saver Card
is a national student discount program. With thousands of discounts
across Canada, Student Saver helps students save money on everyday
purchases like books, clothing, food and entertainment. Members simply
take their card, along with a valid Capilano student card, to any of
the businesses listed in the discount guide or on the website to
receive discounts ranging from 10% to 50% off purchased goods and
services. Besides discounts, the card acts as the Canadian Federation
of Students membership card. The card provides members with information
about the Federation, and helps to remind individual students of the
value of being a member.

Used Book Sale:
Consignment sale price: 70% of new price
Consignor receive price: 60% of new price
Used Book Sale price: 70% of new price (same as consignment sale price)
Three times per year, the Capilano Students’ Union holds a used
textbook sale. Books are accepted on a consignment basis and sold for
70% of the bookstore price. Students who consign their books receive
60% of the bookstore price when their texts sell. While we do accept
highlighted and "wounded" texts, it is to your advantage to keep your
books in good condition if you hope to sell them at a later date.

consignment and sale dates.
